Suy yếu xã hội là một khía cạnh quan trọng của lão khoa, có liên quan với nhiều kết cục bất lợi ở người cao tuổi mắc đái tháo đường típ 2. Nghiên cứu cắt ngang mô tả được thực hiện trên 602 bệnh nhân ≥ 60 tuổi mắc đái tháo đường típ 2 điều trị ngoại trú tại phòng khám Nội tiết - Bệnh viện Thống Nhất. Kết quả ghi nhận tỷ lệ suy yếu xã hội theo thang Makizako là 29,1%. Trong phân tích hồi quy logistic đa biến, tuổi cao, trình độ học vấn thấp, suy yếu theo CFS, suy giảm nhận thức, mất ngủ, té ngã và tình trạng dinh dưỡng kém có liên quan độc lập với suy yếu xã hội. Suy yếu xã hội là tình trạng khá phổ biến ở bệnh nhân cao tuổi đái tháo đường típ 2 điều trị ngoại trú. Sàng lọc suy yếu xã hội có thể giúp phát hiện sớm nhóm bệnh nhân nguy cơ và định hướng can thiệp phù hợp.
