Abstract

The human leukocyte antigen (HLA) gene system encodes cell surface receptor proteins which is responsible for the regulation of the immune system. The single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) rs3077 of HLA-DP gene is thought to have a role in Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection and against late-stage of liver fibrosis. This study aims to determine the distribution of SNP rs3077 in HBV-infected cirrhotic patients and the relation between SNP rs3077 and the risk of liver cirrhosis. Realtime-PCR technique was used to genotype SNP rs3077 in HBV-infected cirrhosis and chronic Hepatitis B patients. The results showed that the proportion of AA, AG, GG genotypes of cirrhosis and chronic Hepatitis B groups were 5.1%, 39.7%, 55,1% and 11.2%, 38.8%, 50.0%, respectively. Frequency of alleles and genotypes of rs3077 of the two groups was not significant different. In conclusion, the relation between SNP rs3077 and the risk of liver cirrhosis from chronic HBV infection has not been found.
