Abstract

Hashimoto’s thyroiditis (HT) is a common autoimmune disease which causes acquired hypothyroidism in children and adolescence. Unless diagnosed and treated, patients have growth delay, developmental and mental retardation. Our purpose is to describe the clinical characteristics, biochemical tests and treatment in patients diagnosed with HT induced hypothyrodism. This is a case series study of 19 patients diagnosed with HT induced hypothyroidism receiving inpatient treatment at the Vietnam National Children’s Hospital from April 2018 to December 2020. The patients had the mean age of 7,69 ± 2,65 years old. Common complaint was goiter. Hypothyroidism was confirmed by thyroid hormones tests and circulating antithyroid antibodies. Our patients were treated with Levothyroxin at the dose of 3,12 ± 0,99 mcg/kg/day.
