Abstract

Gastrointestinal duplication cyst is a rare congenital malformation, usually with a mucosal layer covered in the cyst. Gastric duplication cysts account for about 2 - 9% of all gastrointestinal duplication cysts. The typical clinical presentation is epigastric pain, vomiting, and palpable abdominal mass. Diagnosis is based on ultrasonography and abdominal computed tomography. The treatment method is the surgical removal of the cyst. We report the case of an 8-month-old boy who presented with vomiting and delayed weight gain, was diagnosed with gastroesophageal reflux disease at the front line with no results, and was transferred to the National Children’s Hospital. Ultrasound and CT scan of the abdomen with the gastric duplication cyst. The patient was operated on by laparoscopic cystectomy. After the operation, the child was stable and breastfed about 24 hours after surgery and was released into the hospital on the 3rd day after surgery. Gastric duplication cyst is easily confused with gastroesophageal reflux and hypertrophic pyloric stenosis. Therefore, clinical examination and imaging help determine the most accurate diagnosis.
