33. Cardiac lymphoma misdiagnosed with pulmonary artery dissection

Abstract

Lymphoma is a fairly rare disease with systemic, subclinical clinical manifestations that can easily be confused with other diseases. We report a case of rare cardiac lymphoma with clinical manifestations. Clinical and laboratory findings are similar to those of patients with spontaneous pulmonary artery dissection. However, a definitive diagnosis was made only after performing a thoracotomy and a pathological biopsy. Macroscopic imaging during thoracotomy showed a large tumor invading the aorta, pulmonary artery and other tissues with metastases to the mandibular ganglion and a few small tumors in the right atrium. Microscopic images on histopathology and immunohistochemistry results confirmed the diagnosis of Grade I Follicular Lymphoma.
