11. Human cadaveric vena cava flap graft for the surgical correction of Peyronie’s disease

Abstract

Peyronie's disease is a condition in which the connective tissue of the penis becomes abnormal, leading to curvature of the penis, pain, and difficulty or inability to have sexual intercourse. In a case series of three patients with penile curvature due to cavernous sclerosis, surgery was performed to correct the curvature using a human cadaveric vena cava flap with graft sizes ranging from 3x3cm to 4x3cm. After the surgery, none of the patients experienced any complications such as infection, edema, or hematoma under the skin of the penis. One patient had erectile dysfunction, which was managed with PDE5 inhibitors during sexual intercourse. All patients reported satisfaction with the surgical results. The human cadaveric vena cava flap was found to be a new graft material with many advantages in terms of size, function, and efficacy, and is a good choice for patients with Peyronie's disease.
