Abstract

Papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC), the most common pediatric thyroid malignancy, represents 85 - 95% of cases. Although the PTC is more aggressive in children when compared to adults, the prognosis is better. We presented a case report of a 9-year-old child diagnosed with PTC and the diagnosis and therapy of the disease is discussed. The patient underwent a complete thyroidectomy and lymph node removal combined with treatment of I131. There was no sign of recurrence after 16 months post surgery.
