35. Capacity and participation of private healthcare sector in the tuberculosis diagnosis and screening in Hanoi in 2020
Main Article Content
Abstract
In order to assess the capacity and participation of private healthcare sector in the tuberculosis diagnosis and screening, we conducted a cross-sectional study on 100 private facilities in Hanoi from January 2020 to December 2020. In our study, 17% of facilities had staff who was previously trained in TB care. Around 80% of facilities lacked financial resources for TB care. The proportion of facilities with chest X-ray services was 42%, while the proportions for AFB sputum tests, GeneXpert tests, and culture tests ranged from 10 - 25%. The proportions of facilities that reported conducting chest X-ray, sputum examination, GeneXpert test, and culture test were 24.3%, 2.3%, 1.2%, and 0%, respectively. The proportions of facilities that reported case notification, treatment, and referral were 4.3%, 0.02%, and 3.98%, respectively. Number of doctors and nurses, staff with previous TB training, independent financial resources for TB care, and bacterial testing services were factors related to changes in case notification and referral to the National TB program. Conclusion: The research results indicate the barriers in providing care for tuberculosis patients in private healthcare facilities, which consequently lead to limitations in tuberculosis care activities.
