Abstract

This study was conducted to assess the survival rate in tongue cancer patients staged T1 - 2N1M0 and analyse the prognostic factors associated with survival. This study analysed restrospectively 52 patients with T1 - 2N1M0 tongue cancer, diagnosed and treated with surgery and adjuvant concurrent chemoradiation at National Cancer Hospital from 2013 to 2017. The outcomes showed that 25% patients had recurrent during the follow - up time. The most common recurrent location was in regional lymph nodes (61.5%) and at tongue (15.4%). The higher tumor grade, depth of invasion (DOI) and lymph node metastasis were significant prognostic factors affecting recurrent proportion, p < 0.05. The 5 - year OS and DFS were 74.7% and 68.3%, respectively. The lymph node metastasis, higher tumor grade and depth of invasion (DOI) were the significant prognostic factors affecting the five - year OS and DFS, p < 0.05.
