Abstract

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the immunostimulatory activity of Imuglucan on animals immunosuppressed by cyclophosphamide (CY). Mice were divided randomly into 5 groups of ten mice per cage: control, model, positive control (levamisole), Imuglucan at the dose of 153.6 mg/kg/day, and Imuglucan at the dose of 307.2 mg/kg/day. Immunosuppression in mice was induced by CY 200 mg/kg intraperitoneally. The indexes consisted of relative organ weight, leukocyte counts, OA-induced paw edema, serum IL-2, TNF-α, and IgG level and micro-histological images of spleen and thymus. As a result, Imuglucan at the dose of 307.2 mg/kg/day posed a significant immunostimulatory influence; Imuglucan at the dose of 153.6 mg/kg/day, however, only had a tendency to ameliorate the effects of CY on immunosuppressive mice.
