29. Early outcomes of transoral endoscopic thyroidectomy vestibular approach in the treatment of thyroid tumor at Thanh Hoa Oncology Hospital

Abstract
This study evaluates early outcomes of transoral endoscopic thyroidectomy vestibular approach (TOETVA) in the treatment of the thyroid tumor. A retrospective study was conducted on 41 patients with thyroid tumor who underwent TOETVA at Thanhhoa oncology hospital from May 2020 to April 2023. The mean age was 30.9 ± 9.2; 36/41 were female patients (87.8%). Of these patients, 26 presented with benign nodules and 15 had papillary thyroid carcinoma. The average tumor size was 20.4 ± 10.7mm. Total thyroidectomy and central lymph node dissection: 3 cases (7.3%); lobectomy and isthmusectomy: 4 cases (9.8%); lobectomy: 32 cases (78%); and isthmusectomy: 2 cases (4.9%); The mean operating time was 122 ± 54 minutes. Median blood loss was 19.0 ± 12.5 mL. Mean visual analog scale measurements were 2.6 ± 1.0. Temporary hoarseness was found in 4.9% of cases, hypocalcemia was found in 2.4% of cases; 11 patients (26.8%) had temporary chin numbness. Conclusion: Early outcomes of TOETVA was shown to be safe and effective. It is the only approach that avoids any cutaneous scarring.
