Abstract

A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted by using a set of direct interview questions and an event scale impact scale - IES-R on 293 health workers at the Binh Giang District Health Center in 2022 to assess the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic among the mental health of healthcare workers. The results of the study showed that 29.4% of the subjects had concerning mental health issues, 2.7% had signs of being stressed, and 1.4% had signs of long-term mental health effects over many years. The average score of “Obsession” about COVID-19 was the highest (9.02 ± 3.49), followed by “Avoidance” (6.43 ± 3.51) and “Overreaction” (5.23 ± 3.07). Male nurses employed at the Primary 1 Medical Center (Treatment block), with underlying medical conditions, living with family members, and outfitted with medium-level protective equipment with an average or deficient safety practice are at higher risk of mental health problems than other subjects (p < 0.05).
