23. Surgical outcomes of ovarian tumors in menopausal women at Hanoi Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital

Abstract

To evaluate the surgical outcomes of ovarian tumors in postmenopausal women , we conducted a cross-sectional study on over 70 postmenopausal patients who underwent surgery for ovarian tumors at Hanoi Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital in 2021. Results: Laparoscopic surgery accounted for 88.6%, open surgery accounted for 11.4%, benign tumors accounted for 88.6%, malignant tumors accounted for 11.4%, the average surgical time was 48.5 ± 23.4 minutes, the average hospital stay was 2.6 ± 1.7 days, bilateral oophorectomy was performed in 82.9% of cases, hysterectomy and bilateral oophorectomy were performed in 5.7% of cases, and there were no complication. Conclusion: The treatment of ovarian tumors in menopausal patients through surgery is highly effective and carries low risk of complications. Laparoscopic surgery is the preferred method for benign tumors.  With malignant ovarian tumors, open surgery and radical surgical procedures are prioritized for thorough treatment.
