26. Features of hypoactive sexual desire among female patients with depressive episodes in Bach Mai Hospital

Abstract

This is a cross-sectional descriptive study on 151 patients to characterize hypoactive sexual drive in female patients with depressive episodes treated as inpatient and outpatient at Bach Mai Hospital. Research results show that the rate of hypoactive sexual desire was 71.5%; in which, 53.7% appeared at the same time as other symptoms of depression. After manifesting depression, 87% of patients had no sexual desire. The rate of no sexual desire after viewing magazines, pictures and movies related to sex was 98.1%, the rate of no desire to have sex with a partner was 97.2%, the rate of no desire to masturbate was 98.1%. The rate of no desire when having thoughts about sex was 96.3%, the rate of no sexual desire when in a romantic setting was 80.6%. Hypoactive sexual drive accounted for a high rate in female patients with depression, manifesting in many different ways.
