Abstract

The study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of remote assistance on diagnosis and treatment of emergency, criticalcare patients (Tele-ICU) between Hanoi Medical University Hospital and Thanh Hoa Provincial General Hospital, from January 2022 to March 2023. 100 patients receiving Tele-ICU intervention were studied, the average age 61.7 ± 20 years, average treatment duration was 10.8 ± 8.3 days. There were 42% (40/100) of cases with improved positive outcomes. 22.0% of cases remained unchanged compared to arrival status and 34.0% became more severe. Among 25/100 (25%) of hospital transfers, up to 32.0% (8/25) of patients were transferred to other hospitals in Thanh Hoa for continued treatment. The remaining patients were transferred to higher level hospitals in Hanoi 68.0% (17/25). Deploying Tele-ICU between Hanoi Medical University Hospital and Thanh Hoa Provincial General Hospital support diagnosis and treatment of complex patients, detect more comorbidities and reduce the transfer rate of patients to higher level of care.
