Desmoplastic fibroma of the rib: a case report and literature review

Abstract
Desmoplastic fibroma arising from a rib is extremely rare. Its radiological findings are unspecific and can mimic those of other bone tumors. However, due to its aggressive characteristic and high recurrent rate, knowledge of radiological and pathological findings is crucial for correct diagnosis and treatment. We collect and report a case of a 30-year-old female who had a mass at the right 9th rib on CT scan, underwent total excision with pathological report of desmoplastic fibroma. A review of the literature is also performed.
