Abstract

This study reported our experience of treating renal lower calyx stones patients with mini-percutaneous nephrolithotipsy. The study cohort consisted of 75 patients (49 males and 26 females) at the Hospital of Post and Telecommunications between September 2021 and September 2022. The average age was 53.7 ± 11.5 years and the average size of stone was 22.5 ± 5.0mm. The majority of the patients (70.7%) had pain in the lumbar region. The average operative time was 46.6 ± 9.1 minutes. The average length of hospital stay was 5.2 ± 1.4 days. Most (97.3%) reported excellent free-stone rate after operation. The complication rate was 10.7%, primarily was light fever caused by post-surgery infections. In conclusion, the mini-percutaneous nephrolithotipsy (PCNL) is a effective approach for managing lower pole renal stones with high free-stone rates and less complications rate.
