Abstract

This cross-sectional study was conducted on 327 participants who came for dental examination and treatment at the Air Defense - Air force Medical Institute from June to September 2023, aiming to assess the oral health status of dental patients at the institute. The results showed that the DMFT index of the study group was 6.59 ± 4.81, the prevalence of participants with decayed teeth was 67.6%, the prevalence of participants with periodontal pockets (CPITN 3 and CPITN 4) at 22%, and prevalence of participants with at least 3 healthy sextants was 32.4%. Factors that affected oral health status are age, gender, education level and systemic diseases. Education on regular dental check-ups and timely treatment will improve patient’s oral health.
