9. Relationship between 25-Hydroxyvitamin D concentrations and clinical, laboratory characteristics of children newly diagnosed with type 1 diabetes mellitus at Vietnam National Children's Hospital
Main Article Content
Abstract
Children newly diagnosed with type 1 diabetes mellitus are at risk of vitamin D deficiency, especially children with ketoacidosis complications. This cross-sectional descriptive study on 33 newly diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at Vietnam National Children's Hospital investigated the relationship between 25-hydroxyvitamin D levels and several factors. The rate of children deficiency or insufficient vitamin D (25(OH)D ≤ 50 nmol/L) is 60.6%, especially children with ketoacidosis complications at the time of diagnosis. There was no relationship between 25(OH)D concentration and HbA1c, glucose, C-peptide, and the number of autoantibodies. Vitamin D deficiency or insufficient is common in children newly diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, especially children with ketoacidosis complications.
