Abstract

A cross-sectional study was conducted to describe the prevalence of COVID-19 vaccination coverage and explore factors associated with non-vaccination among patients hospitalized due to SARS-CoV-2 infection at Bac Ninh Provincial General Hospital and Nghe An Provincial Huu Nghi General Hospital in the first six months of 2022 in Vietnam. Among 3.242 hospitalized patients, the percentage of patients who have received at least two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine was 60.6%, and 30.1% of patients had not been vaccinated. AstraZeneca and Pfizer were the two most commonly and early administered vaccines, and 25.1% of people had heterologous vaccines. Females, people 60 years of age or older, retired workers or students, and people with chronic cardiovascular or chronic lung diseases had a significantly higher likelihood of not getting vaccinated against COVID-19 than other groups. Therefore, diverse and comprehensive interventions are needed to address the problem of unsatisfactory vaccine coverage rates to achieve community immunity in vulnerable groups and limit clinical consequences such as recurrence, severe progression, or death.
