Abstract

The purpose of the study was to evaluate coronary artery bypass graft surgery for patients aged 75 years and older, at Bach Mai Hospital from 2018 to 2023. 45 patients with a mean age of 77.1 ± 2.2 were recruited for this study. 73.3% of patients were males. Hypertension (66.7%), diabetes (35.5%), peripheral vascular disease (46.7%) were additional underlying comorbidities. Mean of left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) was 52.8 ± 13.1%, of which 15.6% had LVEF less than 30%. Three-vessel coronary artery lesions accounted for 91.1%; 1 - 2 vessel coronary artery lesions accounted for 8.9%; left main stenosis > 50% accounted for 17.6%. Heart valve damage requiring surgery accounted for 26.6%. The average number of graft per patient was 2.8 ± 0.8. The average time of ventilation was 56.1 ± 61.2 hours, and ICU-stay time was 102.3 ± 112.1 hours. Early mortality was 4.4% (2 cases). Average follow-up time was 36.1 months. The late mortality rate was 2.3%.
