Abstract

The 30-day readmission rate is used as an index to evaluate the quality and effectiveness of acute stroke treatment of the hospital. This study aims to determine the 30-day readmission rate and factors related to the 30-day readmission rate in stroke patients at Can Tho City General Hospital. Through analysis of 224 recorded acute strokes, the average age was 67.5 years old, the male:female ratio was 1.1:1, and the majority of patients had underlying comorbidities such as hypertension (89.3%) and obesity (59.8%). The overall 30-day readmission rate for stroke patients was 17.9%. Patients with cerebral infarction had a 30-day readmission rate of 13.9%, while patients with cerebral hemorrhage had a relatively high 30-day readmission rate of 54.6%. Three factors related to this rate after multivariable logistic regression analyses were age, severe clinical damage and pneumonia. Therefore, more careful monitoring is needed for stroke patients with these conditions.
