Abstract

A cross-sectional study was conducted on 48 teeth of 23 children to assess the clinical and radiographic features of primary molars among 4 to 8-year-old children with restorative indication using Bioflx crowns. Patients were recruited at Ho Chi Minh City Odonto-Maxillo-Facial Hospital from October 2023 to March 2024. The mean age of participants was 6.39 ± 1.03 years, with a majority female representation (60.87%). Most primary molars examined were first molars (58.33%), primarily situated in the mandibular (52.08%). According to the “site and size” classification, cavities were mainly located at site 2 (67.57%), with most cavities classified as size 3 (56.76%). Regarding the extent of carious lesions, 77.08% of teeth showed no clinical pulp exposure and 79.17% of cavities had not reached the pulp chamber based on radiographic assessment. The clinical and radiographic features of primary molars among 4 to 8-year-old children with restorative indication exhibit diverse characteristics, indicating the severity of dental caries complications.
