Abstract

The study was conducted to investigate the characteristics of laboratory indexes of COVID-19 patients at the time of admission to the Intensive Care Unit and the relationship with the severe condition of the patients. The study is a cross-sectional descriptive study on 384 patients with severe and critical COVID-19 who were monitored and treated at the Hanoi Medical University Hospital. Research results show that D-Dimer > 1000 ng/mL, Urea > 10 mmol/L, Creatinine > 120 µmol/L and Albumin < 30 g/L are related to the risk of invasive mechanical ventilation as well as mortality risk. PLT < 150 G/L is associated with the risk of death while WBC > 10 G/L is associated with the risk of invasive mechanical ventilation. The difference is statistically significant with p < 0.05.
