34. Knowledge, attitude about HPV and HPV-related diseases among male medical students specialized in preventive medicine

Abstract

A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 161 male undergraduate students majoring in Preventive Medicine at Hanoi Medical University through face-to-face interviews using a pre-designed questionnaire. The study aims to describe knowledge, attitudes towards human papillomavirus (HPV) and HPV-related diseases in 2024 and associated factors. The study results showed that the proportion of male students with adequate knowledge about HPV and HPV-related diseases was 55.9%. The proportion of male students with a positive attitude towards HPV and HPV-related diseases was 42.9%. Age group, academic year, and information channels were related to the knowledge of the study subjects, while age group and academic year were associated with their attitudes towards HPV and HPV-related diseases. The results showed that male students' knowledge and attitudes remain limited. Therefore, it is necessary to expand and promote health education and communication programs to improve the knowledge of the virus and HPV diseasefor male.
