47. Outcome of hypotension treatment with ephedrine and phenylephrine following spinal anesthesia for cesarean section
Main Article Content
Abstract
Our study compared the effectiveness of intravenous ephedrine and phenylephrine for preventing and treating hypotension after spinal anesthesia in elective cesarean sections. We randomly divided 100 patients into two groups: one group received prophylactic drugs post-spinal anesthesia, the other received treatment for hypotension with ephedrine 5mg and phenylephrine 50µg as needed. Blood pressure and heart rate were recorded up to two hours postoperatively. Since phenylephrine showed better outcomes, we suggest that it is more effective than ephedrine in both preventing and treating hypotension in this context.
