29. Toxicity of biological nano AgNPs on the development process in Drosophila model
Main Article Content
Abstract
Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) are one of the most commonly used nanomaterials because of their unique physicochemical properties, antibacterial ability, ease of fabrication, and low price. Researching the effects of AgNPs on organisms and humans is extremely necessary. Therefore, we evaluated of the influence of biological AgNPs on the development process of Drosophila. The results showed that AgNPs were absorpted and accumulated in the intestines of fly larvae exposed to AgNPs. AgNPs 250 mg/L caused DNA breakage in fly larval blood cells. AgNPs at concentrations of 150 mg/L and 250 mg/L reduced the rates of eggs hatching into larvae and larvae emerging from cocoons into adult flies. These results show that AgNPs negatively affect on the stages of Drosophila development and cause DNA breakage of blood cells in haemolymph. This is also a promising model to study the toxicity of biological substances affecting the growth and development of animals.
