41. Results of tracheal and bronchial surgery at 103 Military Hospital: 9 cases report

Abstract
We performed this retrospective, cross-sectional study to evaluate initial results of tracheal and bronchial surgery at the Department of Thoracic Surgery - Military Hospital 103, from January 2020 to June 2023. 9 patients underwent surgery, the mean of age was 35.3 ± 18.9 years, male/female ratio was 8/1. Stenosis resulted from post endotracheal tube placement (55.5%), post tracheostomy (22.2%), and tumor (22.2%). Patients with brain and meningeal diseases accounted for a high proportion (66.7%). Among 9 patients, there were 8 cases of tracheal stenosis and 1 case of left main bronchial stenosis. The majority (66.7%) had Grade III narrowing . Tracheal segment stenosis was 23.7 ± 10.9mm and left main bronchus stenosis was 15mm. Ventilation during anesthesia and surgery was quite complicated, one patient needed an emergency tracheostomy during anesthesia. Surgery time was 127.5 ± 41.7 minutes. Good and satisfactory results reached a high percentage (88.9%). The initial results showed that tracheal and bronchoplasty surgery was safe and feasible.
