Evaluation of endoscopic sinus surgery results on eustache function in adult chronic rhinosinusitis patients

Abstract
This prospective and case-by-case study of 42 patients evaluated changes in Eustache function after endoscopic sinus surgery in adult patients with chronic rhinosinusitis and Eustachian tube dysfunction. The average age was 46.3 ± 10.2 years old ; 32/42 (76.2%) were males, and 10/42 (23.8%) were females; 100% of patients had nasal discharge, followed by nasal congestion at 76.2%; 28.6% had nasal polyps; 35.7% had ostio-meato-complex obstruction; 30.9% had nasal septal deformity; 83.3% had purulent discharge; and 100% had maxillary and ethmoid sinus lesions. The ETDQ-7 score preoperatively was 19.3, decreased to 9.1 and 8.2 at 1 month and 3 months postoperatively. The Valsaval test results postoperatively increased positively and decreased negatively in both ears, with a significant difference (p < 0.001). Tympanogram type A, including As, increased and type B and C decreased in both ears postoperatively, with a significant difference (p < 0.001)It is proven that endoscopic sinus surgery significantly improved Eustache function in chronic rhinosinusitis patients with eustachian tube dysfunction.
