Abstract

The aim of this study is to review complications of gastrointestinal non-Hodgkin lymphoma. This descriptive study was conducted on 87 patients with gastrointestinal non-Hodgkin lymphoma, treated at Vietnam national cancer Hospital from 2019 to 2022. The rate of complication was 35.6%. Complications include: gastrointestinal bleeding (14.9%), intestinal semi-obstruction/obstruction (13.8%), hollow viscus perforation (1.1%) and pyloric stenosis (5.8%). Most complications occurred before chemotherapy (93.5%). Gastrointestinal bleeding occurs mainly in the stomach (76.9%), and obstruction occurs mainly in the intestine (91.7%). The rate of surgery in the group with complications was higher than in the group without complications (77.4% vs. 16.1%, p = 0.000). The rate of complications in the complete response group was higher than the incomplete response group (41.5% vs 17.4%, p = 0.048). There was no association between complications and PFS and OS results at the 3 years time point.
