Abstract

Frozen elephant trunk technique was applied routinely at Viet Duc University Hospital. We perform the analysis of this technique and compare with international guidelines. This is a retrospective, descriptive study of consecutive patients, who underwent FET operation at cardiovascular and thoracic center, Viet Duc University Hospital during 2/2019-6/2021. Thirty-three patients were included in this study where twenty-two (66.7%) patients were men. The average age was 54.4±11.7 (range 33-72) years. The indications for procedures were: aneurysm of aortic arch and proximal descending aortic aneurysm in five (15.2%) patients; aortic dissection type A in eighteen (54.5%), in whom thirteen (39.4%) were acute dissections. Post-dissection aneurysmal formation after type A repair in five (17.2%) patients. Acute intramural hematoma type A and penetrating ulcer in descending aorta in 3 (9 %) patients. In conclusion: The indications for frozen elephant trunk procedures at Viet Duc University Hospital conformed with the international guidelines.
