Abstract

People's knowledge and attitudes are essential factors in the success of a vaccination campaign. A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 217 subjects to describe their knowledge and attitudes about COVID-19 vaccination and analyse associated factors of people in Bo De commune, Binh Luc district, Ha Nam province in 2023. The results showed that most subjects had adequate knowledge (74.7%) and positive attitudes (70.7%) about the COVID-19 vaccination. High education level was related to the study subjects having sufficient knowledge about COVID-19 vaccination. Participants with secondary school, high school, and post-high school levels had 2.7 times, 7.2 times and 11.6 times higher knowledge about COVID-19 vaccination, than those with primary school levels (p < 0.05). The study did not show a relationship between the subjects' adequate knowledge and positive attitudes with factors such as gender, age group, COVID-19 status of the study subjects and the type of COVID-19 vaccine that the subjects had received. We recommend the authorities to take appropriate measures to further improve the population’s knowledge and attitudes about COVID-19 vaccination, especially knowledge related to medical vaccination indications.
