3. Sensitivity and specificity of the Aphasia Rapid Test in screening for aphasia in stroke patients
Main Article Content
Abstract
We conducted this study for the evaluation of the sensitivity and specificity of the Aphasia Rapid Test (ART) in screening for aphasia in stroke patients in the Rehabilitation Center. The sensitivity, specificity and relevance of ART were compared with The Aphasia Quotient by using the binary logistic and Kappa coefficient. The results showed that the kappa coefficient of ART in screening for aphasia was 0.8130, the sensitivity was 88.6% and the specificity was 100%. ART had the highest coefficient, sensitivity and specificity with screening for the severe aphasia, AST had the low sensitivity in classifying mild and moderate aphasia. In addition, 89.7% of stroke patients had aphasia combined with right hemiplegia. Thus, ART is necessary and effective for screening aphasia in stroke patients, especially in patients with dominant hemisphere damage.
