5. Evaluate the level of colon cleanliness and compliance with the colonoscopy preparation regimen with the support of smartphone application

Abstract

This is a Single-blind, controlled clinical trial study on patients with indications for bowel preparation for complete colonoscopy using Golistin soda oral regimen at Hoa Binh Provincial General Hospital from October 2023 to October 2024. 298 patients participated in the study with 149 patients in the intervention group, using the smart phone application. 100% of patients complied with taking medicine, 72.2% complied with drinking sufficient water. Compliance with walking and abdominal rubbing in the intervention group was higher than the control group (89.3% - 82.6% and 87.3% - 76.5%). The rate of patients (level 4) with adequate cleanliness in the intervention group was higher than the control group (99.3% and 97.3%). The average total BBPS score in the intervention group was higher than the control group (8.1 ± 0.9 and 7.4 ± 1.0), the difference was statistically significant (p < 0,05). Conclusion: Using smartphone application helps patients comply with the bowel preparation regimen and improve colon cleanliness.
