Evaluating rebound pain of the single-shot injection adductor canal block after knee arthroscopic surgery
Main Article Content
Abstract
A descriptive, prospective study was conducted on 108 patients undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery at Hanoi Medical University Hospital from March 2023 to August 2023. Patients received an adductor canal block with 15ml of 0.375% ropivacaine before surgery, then spinal anesthesia was used to anesthetize the knee arthroscopic surgery. After surgery, patients was monitored for pain and given pain relievers according to the protocol. The study results showed that 19.4% of patients had rebound pain; the average time of rebound pain after the end of adductor canal block was 4.17 ± 1.28 hours, the average duration of rebound pain was 3.81 ± 0.97 hours, the level of rebound pain ranged from 4 to 6, the average amount of morphine consumed during rebound pain was 7.24 ± 1.61mg, the satisfaction level in patients with rebound pain was 19.1%, much lower than patients without rebound pain with a satisfaction level of 100%.
