Abstract

Orchitis and epididymitis are conditions that cause pain and significantly affect the quality of life of patients. Anxiety not only increases the perceived level of pain but also impacts the ability to cope with the illness, adherence to treatment, and overall quality of life. A cross-sectional study was conducted on 33 inpatients at the Department of Andrology and Sexual Medicine – Hanoi Medical University Hospital to explore the characteristics of anxiety disorders in patients with orchitis and epididymitis and to identify factors related to anxiety. This study showed that pain levels and anxiety are closely related, especially during the treatment of conditions such as orchitis and epididymitis. High pain levels (VAS) are not only a physical stressor but also increase anxiety, particularly when pain is not effectively managed during hospitalization. Pre-treatment anxiety is also a strong predictor of post-treatment anxiety, increasing concerns about recovery and disease recurrence.
