Relationship between clinical characteristics and cerebrovascular MRI in an acute vertebrobasilar cerebral infarction

Abstract
This cross sectional descriptive tudy was conducted on 110 patients. from August 2022 to July 2023, at Hanoi Medical University Hospital and Bach Mai Hospital. The research subjects were patients diagnosed with acute vertebrobasilar cerebral infarction within 72 hours from onset of symptoms through clinical signs and cranial MRI. Results: there were 69% male and 31% female, the most common symptom of dizziness was 54.55% and the symptom of dizziness was related to the cerebellar and occipital lobe lesions on brain MRI with statistical significance at p < 0.05 (p = 0.031). The symptoms of motor paralysis with 52.72% were related to lesions in the pontine region, impaired consciousness (decreased Glasgow Coma Scale score) with 15.45% were related to lesions in the pontine region and brain stem on brain MRI with statistical significance at p < 0.05 (p = 0.045). In general, dizziness is a common symptom in acute vertebrobasilar cerebral infarction (54.55%) and is related to the damaged area of the pons and occipital lobe on cranial MRI.
