Initial results of laparoscopic radical cystectomy treatment of bladder cancer: Case series report
Main Article Content
Abstract
Bladder cancer is one of the most common tumors of the urinary system with the majority of patients presented with muscle invasive bladder cancer. Radical cystectomy with regional lymph node dissection is regarded as the standard treatment for muscle-invasive bladder cancer. In recent years, laparoscopic radical cystectomy has been successfully applied in a number of centers around the world and has shown as a viable alternative. At HaNoi Medical University Hospital, radical cystectomy is still considered as the standard treatment. Recently, we have successfully applied laparoscopic radical cystectomy and obtained some positive results. However, this is still a difficult surgery with many potential risks and there is not enough evidence to evaluate oncological outcomes. We suggest further studies with larger sample sizes and longer follow-up periods to evaluate the outcomes.
