Risk of fall assessment by morse scale in rheumatoid arthritis patients at Hanoi Medical University Hospital
Main Article Content
Abstract
We conducted this study to assess fall risk using the MORSE scale and to provide commentary on factors associated with fall risk in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients receiving treatment at Hanoi Medical University Hospital. 103 RA inpatients, , treatedat the Hanoi Medical University Hospital's Department of Rheumatology from March to August 2024 were included in a cross-sectional descriptive study. On the initial day of the RA treatment, the MORSE scale was evaluated. According to the MORSE classification, the prevalence of RA patients who had a moderate to severe risk of falling was 35.92%. 19.42% of the patients experienced at least one fall in the preceding year. Individuals with moderate to severe VAS pain (OR = 19.13) and male RA patients (OR = 7.37) were found to be independent predictors of moderate to high fall risk. For RA patients who have moderate to severe VAS pain at admission, a specialized nursing care plan is necessary to reduce the risk of falls and to contribute to the overall success of treatment.
