Evaluation of Outcomes of Single-Port and Double-Port Thoracoscopic Surgery in Early-Stage Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer Patients at the National Lung Hospital
Main Article Content
Abstract
Thoracoscopic surgery (TS) is considered the gold standard for the treatment of early-stage non-small cell lung cancer. This is a cross-sectional, retrospective study of 465 patients with early-stage non-small cell lung cancer who underwent video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) for lung tumor resection from June 2016 to December 2023. Results: Among 465 patients, 159 underwent single-port VATs (34.2%), while 306 underwent double-port thoracoscopic surgery (65.8%). Most patients underwent lobectomy (97.2%), with an average surgery time of 140 minutes for single-port VATs and 145 minutes for double-port VATs. The amount of blood loss during surgery between the two methods showed no significant difference (an average of 130ml compared to 142ml). A single-port technique, has advantages over the double-port technique in all three criteria: less postoperative pain assessed by the VAS score, shorter drainage removal time, and shorter hospital stay after surgery. There is no difference in postoperative complications, DFS, and OS between the two study groups.
