Abstract

Osteoporosis is a silent disease that leads to complications such as fractures, particularly vertebral compression fractures, causing pain, disability, and a reduction in the patient's quality of life (QoL). The EQ-5D-5L is one of the widely used tools to assess QoL. The objective of this study was to describe the QoL and change of pain level among patients with vertebral compression fractures treated with vertebroplasty at Hanoi Medical University Hospital. This descriptive study design was conducted among 350 patients by completing the questionnaire before and after vertebroplasty. Results: The average QoL score after intervention was high in most domains of measurement including mobility, self-care, usual activities, pain/discomfort, and anxiety/depression. The degree of back pain, measured by the VAS, also showed statistically significant reduction. The QoL and pain level after vertebroplasty , showed significant progress  in mobility and mental health.
