Anti-peptic ulcer effect of Da day Phuong Dong hard capsules in experiments
Main Article Content
Abstract
Da day Phuong Dong hard capsule is a combination of medicinal herbs with the purpose of treating peptic ulcers. The objective of this study is to evaluate the effect of Da day Phuong Dong on the model of indomethacin-induced peptic ulcers. Wistar rats were divided into five groups and given orally distilled water (biological control group, model group), misoprostol (positive control group), Da day Phuong Dong at 0.48 tablets/kg/day and 1.44 tablets/kg/day for seven consecutive days, followed by oral administration of indomethacin ata single dose of 40 mg/kg. Six hours after indomethacin administration, rats were dissected to evaluate the macroscopic and microscopic appearance of the stomach and duodenum. Our results showed that Da day Phuong Dong reduced the ulcer index when compared to the model group. The ulcer inhibition rate was 36.36% and 18.18% in 0.48 tablets/kg-treated group and 1.44 tablets/kg-treated group, respectively. Da day Phuong Dong also improved pathological images compared to the model group. In summary, Da day Phuong Dong has the effect of preventing indomethacin-induced gastroduodenal ulcers in experiment rats.
