Abstract

A prospective cross-sectional study was conducted on 85 patients admitted for acute heart failure at Hanoi Medical University Hospital from June 1, 2023, to November 30, 2023. After stabilization and discharge, the patients were followed up for six months to evaluate the frequency of follow-up adherence and changes in left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) and proBNP levels among those with complete follow-up, as well as major cardiovascular events. The study found that only a small proportion (36%) of patients completed the full follow-up (all three visits) at Hanoi Medical University Hospital. Among the patients with complete follow-up, there was a marked improvement in cardiac function, with a 12% increase in LVEF and a 45% reduction in blood proBNP levels compared to admission. However, the overall incidence of major cardiovascular events (including death and readmission) remained high at 21%.
