Abstract

This study analyzes the validity and reliability of the ICAST-C scale in measuring maltreatment levels among 241 secondary school students using exploratory factor analysis and Cronbach's alpha coefficient. The results indicate that the four subscales of the ICAST-C, including physical maltreatment, emotional maltreatment, sexual maltreatment, and neglect, have Cronbach's alpha coefficients ranging from acceptable to good levels (0.65 - 0.91). Specifically, the physical maltreatment subscale comprises 2 items, explaining 73.88% of the variance in physical maltreatment. The emotional maltreatment subscale includes 26 items, explaining 63% of the variance in emotional maltreatment. The neglect subscale contains 22 items, explaining 60.5% of the variance in neglect. The sexual maltreatment subscale comprises 4 items, explaining 59.1% of the variance in sexual maltreatment. The findings demonstrate that the ICAST-C scales possess validity and reliability in screening for signs of child maltreatment and measuring the extent of child maltreatment.
