Abstract

Peptic ulcer is a very common digestive tract disease. Da day hoan Ba Giang is a herbal combination intended to treat this disease. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of Da day hoan Ba Giang on the cysteamine-induced model of peptic ulcers in experimental animals. Wistar rats divided into 5 groups were orally given water (group 1, group 2), ranitidine (group 3) and Da day hoan Ba Giang (group 4) at a dose of 4.32 tablets/kg/day, respectively, for 10 consecutive days. One hour after the last dose, rats of groups 2 to 4 were induced peptic ulcers by oral cysteamine administration. Our results showed that Da day hoan Ba Giang reduced the ulcer rate, the average number of lesions, and the ulcer index and improved the microscopic image of the stomach and duodenum. In summary, Da day hoan Ba Giang at the dose of 4.32 tablets/kg/day has an anti-peptic ulcer effect on the cysteamine-induced peptic ulcer model in experimental animals.
