Abstract

Emotional and behavioral disorders are psychological concerns in children with malignant solid tumors, but research in this field is still limited. A cross-sectional study was conducted on 60 pediatric patients at the Vietnam National Cancer Hospital campus Tan Trieu, using CBCL and DASS-21 scales to assess emotions and behaviors. The results showed that 9/44 children aged 12 - 18 years old (20.5%) and 3/16 children aged 6 - 11 years old (18.8%) had emotional and behavioral disorders. Pain and nausea symptoms were significantly associated with emotional and behavioral problems, particularly who had symptoms of withdrawal, depression, and body complaints (p < 0.05). Therefore, early screening and psychological interventions during the treatment of children with malignant solid tumors are needed, especially for children with symptoms, to improve their quality of life.
