Abstract

This study is to evaluate the early results of laparoscopic cholecystectomy to treat acute calculous cholecystitis at Vietnam - Sweden Uong Bi Hospital. This study included 90 patients with acute calculous cholecystitis, who have undergone laparoscopic cholecystectomy in Vietnam - Sweden Uong Bi Hospital from January 2022 to June 2024. Grade II (moderate) acute cholecystitis was 57.9%. There were 58 (64.4%) patients operating beyond 72h of symptoms onset. The success rate of the method was 97.8% %. The rate of placing three trocars into abdominal cavity was 71.1%, intraoperative decompression of gall bladder in 70.5% cases the rate of cystic duct closure by hemolock was 95.5%. The mean operating time was 53.8 minutes. The average time of post-operative antibiotic administration was 6.9 days. The average of postoperative hospital stay was 5.8 days. Aforementioned results suggest that laparoscopic cholecystectomy to treat acute calculous cholecystitis is a safe and effective method.
