54. Oral hygiene status and clinical pẻriodontal indices among 12th grade students at Hermann Gmeiner inter-level school, Hanoi in 2025

Abstract
This study was conducted to describe the clinical periodontal indices and to evaluate the relationship between these indices and oral hygiene status among 12th-grade students at Hermann Gmeiner Inter-level school in Hanoi in 2025. Subjects and Methods: The study was conducted on 139 18-years old students at Hermann Gmeiner Inter-level school, Hanoi in February 2025. This was a cross-sectional descriptive study with inclusion and exclusion criteria. Results and conclusion: The study showed 38.1 % students had periodontal hemorrhage, and 13.7% had gingival pockets. However, the percentage of periodontal bleeding differed between the two genders. The majority of students brushed their teeth twice or more a day (91.4%). The percentages of students using mouthwash daily was 23.7%. The amount of periodontal bleeding in students using oral hygiene aids was 32.1%, lower than those without (46.6%). Brushing for 3 - 5 minutes had a lower chance of periodontal hemorrhage and gingival pockets than brushing for 1 - 2 minutes. The rate of periodontal bleeding in students who brushed their teeth up and down and in a circular motion was significantly lower than students who brushed their teeth horizontally
