Anti-inflammatory and antipruritic effects of the polyherbal formulation TAD
Main Article Content
Abstract
The polyherbal formulation TAD is a formulation composed of 7 medicinal herbs extraction including: Cortex Phellodendri, Rhizoma Rhei, Caulis et Radix Fibraureae, Fructus Xanthii strumarii, Folium et Ramulus Crotonis tonkinensis, Folium Lawsoniae. The topical anti-inflammatory and antipruritic activities of TAD extract were evaluated in Swiss mice. The topical anti-inflammatory effects were studied in the croton oil-induced ear edema. The anti-puritic activities of the extract was tested using the compound 48/80-induced pseudo-allergy model. Topical application of TAD twice or three times daily inhibited ear edema by 32.98% and 33.98%, respectively. Furthermore, the administration of TAD trendly inhibited the scratching behavior induced by compound 48/80 in mice. These results suggested that TAD extract has potential as a therapeutic agent against inflammation and itch-related skin diseases.
