Abstract

A cross-sectional study was conducted on 63 patients diagnosed with psoriasis vulgaris (PS) and 61 patients diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis (PsA) at the National Hospital of Dermatology and Vereneology from November 2023 to August 2024 to describe the characteristics of nail lesions and examine the relationship between nail lesions and disease activity. The results showed that nail lesions appeared in 72.6% of PS patients and 86.9% of PsA patients (p < 0.05). The rates of white spot and hemorrhagic lesions in PsA patients (77% and 55.7%, respectively) were higher than the PS group (57.1% and 38.1%, respectively; p < 0.05). The degree of nail damage was associated with the severity of PsA (r = 0.425, p < 0.05). The above results showed that nail damage tended to be more common in the PsA group and was also associated with the level of disease activity.
